What a great interview but such a sad story, this type of situation just highlights perfectly what our members are going through. How can banks be so insensitive to the plights of these pensioners they have no heart or soul and I wonder what they would think if their parents had fallen foul to these fraudulent schemes. Perhaps if there wasn’t so much money involved in commissions and bonuses then they would not have the heart to sell such products. Onwards and upwards as the saying goes.
I hear Madrid has not accepted the claim against Rothschilds. Is this correct do you know?
Correct, we sent a mailing to advise this was the position of the Madrid “Audiencia Nacional”. They have chosen to defer the investigation to local Courts, as seems to be the trend when “while-collar” claims are submitted. Only a week ago, they also chose to not take on the investigation into allegations of corruption and tax fraud committed by King’s son-in-law.
The rejection is therefore a mere relocation of jurisdiction.
Mark Countache on behalf of Rothschild Bank denies any involvement in promoting the equity release scheme. They deny it is equity release.
I have two questions 1) If they had no involvement in the promotion of the scheme why was Steve Dewsnip director of Rothschild Guernsey present at at least two of these seminars – chatting to prospective clients.
2) If it was not an equity release scheme then it was a Spanish IHT avoidance scheme which we understand is actually illegal.
